Gray Gravel & Cyclocross Pedals & Accessories

For muddy cyclocross and technical off-road sections, clipless systems with strong mud clearance—like Time ATAC or Crankbrothers—work very well. Their open, self-cleaning designs and steel or alloy bodies help shed debris and maintain engagement in dirty conditions.

Hybrid pedals let you clip in for efficient power and flip to a flat platform for easy walking or quick dismounts, and many accept recessed two-bolt SPD cleats for better walkability. A larger platform or added traction pins gives extra stability when you’re off the bike.

Pay attention to construction and mass—pedals commonly range 250–350g per pair; steel-bodied options resist wear in gritty conditions while alloy or composite models save weight. Also look for serviceable bearings or sealed cartridges to extend longevity on long, dusty rides, and consider an all-around model like the Shimano M520 for adjustability.

Fine-tune cleat placement using pedals with multiple attachment points to promote natural foot movement, and loosen adjustable spring tension to make clipping out easier. Choosing double-sided or four-sided entry pedals also speeds re-engagement when you need to clip back in quickly.

Power meter pedals are ideal when you want accurate watt data on structured gravel efforts and interval sessions; models like the Garmin Rally XC200 combine clipless convenience with reliable power tracking. They’re particularly useful for riders focused on measurable training gains during mixed-terrain rides.
