Girls' Baselayer Bottoms

For active ski days and hiking in mild to cool weather, lightweight synthetics like Capilene or Lifa blends wick moisture quickly and work well in the 20°F to 50°F range when layered. For multi-day cold conditions choose midweight Merino 250 for odor resistance and extra warmth without bulk.

Try youth-specific sizes 6–16 and allow a bit of growth room since merino fits compressively yet stays non-restrictive. Midweight youth inseams commonly run about 20–25 inches, and synthetic Pepper Skins styles offer a looser fit while 4-way stretch fabrics preserve mobility.

Merino bottoms, especially Merino 250 or 100% merino options, excel at odor control and can be worn multiple days without smelling, while synthetics like Capilene dry faster after strenuous activity. Blends such as merino-tencel add softness, so choose merino when odor resistance matters more than rapid drying.

Synthetics with 100% recycled polyester, like Capilene, and performance fabrics from Under Armour with 4-way stretch and moisture-wicking tech will dry the fastest for high-energy kids. Those fabrics move sweat to the surface so kids stay comfortable between runs and activity bursts.

Flatlock seams and tailored geometry reduce chafing and prevent bunching during play, and 2-layer constructions such as Helly Hansen’s add extra durability for harsher conditions. Merino and merino-blend bottoms also maintain shape and warmth through repeated use, making them resilient for winter layering.
