Red Fishing Bags & Luggage

For half-day to multi-day trips a 60L duffel like the Simms G3 Guide Z offers wet/dry separation and enough room for clothing and tackle. For longer one- to two-week journeys choose roller bags or full-sized checked luggage in the 90–140L range to carry bulkier gear.

Most roller bags and suitcases accept rods up to about 10' (4‑piece) or even 16' (6‑piece) salmon setups, while some packs and carry-ons limit you to 9' tubes packed diagonally. The Patagonia Black Hole is an example of a versatile bag that can accommodate an 11' 4‑piece rod for simpler travel.

Materials like waterproof tarp fabric and tear-resistant nylon resist salt spray and abrasion, and corrosion-resistant zippers help protect reels. Hard plastic shells and metal hardware add impact resistance for rough handling, while canvas or leather provide durable, stylish options with more weight.

If you're on a short flight, carry-on or personal-item bags can work and some carry-ons are built to protect rods and reels, and models like the Fishpond Dakota Carry-On specifically accommodate rod protection. For longer trips or oversized rods you’ll likely need checked luggage, and bags under about 100L are easier to meet airline size limits and often include TSA-approved locks.

Wet/dry compartments keep soaked waders or wet gear separate from clothes and electronics, making packing and unpacking faster. Dedicated rod tubes, multiple utility trays, and options like soft tackle bags, hard tackle boxes, or hybrid vaults give on-water organization for daily fishing or extreme conditions.
