Gray Camp Towels

For ultralight trips favor pocket or ultralight microfiber towels that pack small and shave ounces from your load. The Sea to Summit Pocket Towel is a good example at under 3 ounces and many top quick-dry models dry in under 2 hours, so you can towel off and stow it without adding bulk.

Think about how much coverage you need versus packability — mini or pocket sizes prioritize portability while full personal or beach towels can reach about 60x30 inches for better coverage. Models like the Nomadix Original offer larger, versatile sizes that work well for taller users or when you want head-to-toe coverage.

Microfiber synthetic fibers dry fastest and are lightweight, with top quick-dry models often drying in under 2 hours. If post-shower softness matters, consider a luxe option such as the PackTowl Luxe, which scores 10/10 absorbency and a 9/10 comfort rating.

Durability comes from reinforced edges, snap loops for hanging, and antimicrobial treatments that help resist odor through multiple uses. Pick machine-washable builds tested to withstand repeated washing; multi-purpose options like the REI Multi are designed for frequent laundering without fraying.

Many beach and travel towels use sand-shedding fabrics, non-slip grips, and flat rectangular geometry so they shake clean and stow compactly. Ultralight choices also focus on tiny packed weights — some models drop to the 2–4 ounce range — making them easy to tuck into a daypack or carry-on.
