Black Bike Maintenance

Start with an Allen wrench set covering 2–12mm, tire levers, a patch kit, chain lube, and a floor pump with a gauge. Adding a torque wrench accurate across 1–60 Nm helps avoid over-tightening on carbon or alloy frames, and Park Tool pre-made kits bundle many of these essentials.

Wet lubes are formulated to resist water and work best for muddy trails or rainy roads, while dry lubes are better for dusty paths; expect coatings to last roughly 100–300 miles between applications. Use a bio degreaser like Muc-Off to remove muck before reapplying lube for smoother shifting.

A good floor pump has an easy-to-read gauge and up to 160 psi to cover most road and mountain needs, plus a sturdy rubber grip for comfortable pumping. Reliable pressure readings make tire setup quicker and safer whether you’re prepping a commuter or a racer.

Bleed kits, Torx T25 wrenches, rotor truing tools, and needle-nose pliers are the core items for servicing hydraulic systems and aligning rotors. Pedro's bleed kits include the correct mineral oil for Shimano and SRAM brakes, and keeping a T25 bit and truing tool on hand speeds up post-ride fixes.

Consider a workstand with an aluminum, micro-adjustable clamp rated to hold up to 55 pounds so it will support mountain and gravel bikes securely. Hardened-steel fasteners and a solid clamp reduce flex during repairs, making tasks like drivetrain work and wheel truing easier.
