Zipp

Frequently Asked Questions

• What technologies make Zipp wheels stand out for aerodynamics and handling?

Zipp pairs Firecrest rim shapes and dimpled carbon finishes to optimize airflow and improve crosswind stability, and combines those rims with high-engagement hubs (ZM2, ZM 900) for quick pedal response. Select models also integrate systems like TyreWiz 2.0 tire-pressure monitoring to help dial in rolling resistance and ride feel.
• Are any Zipp wheels suitable for e-bikes and heavier-duty use?

Yes, Zipp’s 101 XPLR wheelsets are approved for e-bike use and are built with wider rims and more robust hub constructions to handle higher torque and added weight from e-assist systems. In general, S-level and XPLR models emphasize durability with sealed bearings and stronger spoke/nipple combinations for longer life under heavier loads.
• What should I consider when choosing a Zipp wheelset for my bike and riding goals?

Start by matching the wheel family to your discipline (Firecrest for aero road, XPLR for gravel, 1ZERO for XC) and decide whether you prioritize ultralight SW-level weight savings or the durability of S-level builds. Also consider hub engagement (ranges from roughly 36 to 66 points), bearing type (sealed steel vs ceramic), tubeless compatibility, and hub/drivetrain body compatibility (e.g., standard vs XD driver).
