WTB

Frequently Asked Questions

• What sets WTB tires like Trail Boss, Vigilante, and Proterra apart from other tire lines?

WTB designs tires around specific casing and compound choices—30/60/120 TPI casings for tradeoffs in durability, suppleness, and weight—paired with protection layers like Flat Guard, SG1 dual-ply, or SG2 bead‑to‑bead nylon for puncture resistance. Signature compounds such as TriTec (three-layer: hard base, medium center, soft side knobs) and Dual DNA balance traction and rolling efficiency so models like Trail Boss and Vigilante perform across trail, enduro, and mixed‑terrain use.
• How does WTB’s TCS 2.0 tubeless system and Solid Strip construction benefit wheel and tire setups?

TCS 2.0 rims are tubeless‑ready with preinstalled TCS tape and valves for easier, more reliable tubeless installs and compatibility with sealant. Solid Strip places a nylon layer between rim and tape to smooth tire mounting and protect spoke holes, while reinforced spoke beds and hub choices (sealed bearings, 6‑pawl with 5° engagement) improve long‑term durability and engagement feel.
• What wheel and rim options does WTB offer for gravel, trail, and eMTB riding?

WTB supplies carbon and aluminum rim options with widths like i23 for fast gravel platforms and i30 for more aggressive trail or enduro use, with hub and spoke builds tuned to the intended discipline. For eMTB and high‑abuse applications WTB’s HTZ i30 builds use heavier‑duty materials and nipple choices (brass on tougher builds) to withstand higher torque and mileage.
• How do WTB’s compound and casing choices affect traction versus durability across their tire lineup?

WTB’s TriTec compound stacks a hard base with a medium center and soft side knobs to provide durable rolling with predictable cornering grip, while Dual DNA uses a firmer center for speed and softer shoulders for bite in turns. Selecting casing options—single‑ply for light weight or 60/30/120 TPI and SG1/SG2 protection—lets riders prioritize puncture resistance and sidewall support for enduro, gravel, or urban use.
