Pirelli

Frequently Asked Questions

• What sets Pirelli bike tires apart from other cycling tire brands?

Pirelli brings motorsport‑derived rubber science and a focus on compounds, casings, and construction—for example SmartEVO and ProCompound formulations paired with SpeedCORE or TechWALL+ casings—to optimize grip, rolling efficiency, and puncture resistance across road, gravel, and TT applications. Their lineup ranges from race‑oriented P Zero Race TLR models to Cinturato all‑road and gravel tires, all engineered with features like folding beads and tubeless‑ready construction to balance speed and durability.
• What is SmartEVO and which Pirelli models use it?

SmartEVO is Pirelli’s road‑focused rubber compound designed for low rolling resistance and high wet/dry grip; it’s featured on performance road tires such as the P Zero Race TLR and P Zero Race TLR RS. It’s typically paired with higher‑TPI casings for a supple ride and responsive handling at race pressures.
• How do Cinturato All Road tires compare to Cinturato Gravel H/M models?

Cinturato All Road tires prioritize fast rolling and stability on mixed pavement and light gravel with widths like 35–45c and a tread tuned for lower rolling resistance, while Cinturato Gravel H/M models use ProCompound and TechWALL+ casings for enhanced sidewall protection and traction on rougher, looser surfaces. In short, All Road leans toward speed and versatility on varied surfaces; Gravel H/M trades a bit of rolling efficiency for greater durability and bite where conditions get rough.
• Are Pirelli bike tires tubeless‑ready and what are the benefits?

Most Pirelli performance models are tubeless‑ready — including the P Zero Race TLR and Cinturato All Road — featuring folding beads for secure rim fit and compatibility with tubeless sealant. Running tubeless lets you run lower pressures for better traction and comfort, can reduce rolling resistance, and works well with reinforcements like SpeedCORE to improve puncture resistance when set up correctly on a tubeless‑compatible rim.
• Which Pirelli technologies should I choose for road racing versus mixed‑surface gravel riding?

For road racing, prioritize SmartEVO‑compound P Zero Race TLR tires with higher‑TPI, SpeedCORE casings and narrower widths (approximately 26–30mm) for minimal rolling resistance and responsive handling. For mixed‑surface gravel, choose Cinturato models with ProCompound and TechWALL+ casings in wider sizes (35–45c) to gain durability, sidewall protection, and better traction on loose or rough terrain.
