Lazer

Frequently Asked Questions

• What makes Lazer Sport helmets different from other cycling helmet brands?

Lazer Sport integrates proprietary technologies like KinetiCore for rotational impact management and the RollSys retention system for circumferential fit, combining high protection with low weight and strong ventilation. Models like the Z1 KinetiCore also offer aero accessories (Aeroshell), rear mounting for the Universal LED light, and a Virginia Tech 5-star protection rating, reflecting a focus on performance-oriented design.
• What is KinetiCore and how does it protect riders?

KinetiCore is an EPS-based multi-directional protection system that uses strategically placed foam blocks and Controlled Crumple Zones to absorb linear and rotational forces during impacts. Because it concentrates material where needed, KinetiCore helps reduce overall helmet weight and preserves internal air channels for better cooling without sacrificing protection.
• How do Lazer helmets balance aerodynamics and ventilation for racing?

Lazer designs helmets like the Z1 KinetiCore to deliver aerodynamic gains—tested at roughly four seconds saved per 10 km at ~44 km/h—while preserving ventilation through internal air channels and strategically placed vents. The KinetiCore layout reduces material bulk to keep weight low (about 220 g for a size M) and maintains airflow, which Lazer reports yields modest cooling improvements versus wearing no helmet.
• What is the RollSys fit system and why does it matter?

RollSys is a circumferential retention system that adjusts with a thumbwheel dial to fine-tune fit around the head rather than just at the base of the skull, helping eliminate pressure points and improve stability. Its dial placement is designed to be ponytail-friendly and provides micro-adjustments for all-day comfort on long rides.
• Does Lazer incorporate sustainable or rider-friendly materials in their helmets?

Lazer uses lightweight stitched straps made from antimicrobial recycled materials and minimizes plastic strap hardware (no plastic strap dividers) to reduce bulk and irritation. The KinetiCore approach also uses less foam overall to achieve protection and ventilation, which can be seen as a material-efficient design strategy without compromising safety performance.
