Grayl Hike & Camp

Frequently Asked Questions

• What makes Grayl different from other outdoor water-gear brands?

Grayl centers on all-in-one, user-friendly purification systems—like the GeoPress Ti and UltraPress—that combine fast mechanical pressing with media that targets both biological pathogens and chemical contaminants. The brand emphasizes ultralight materials (CP4 Grade 1 Titanium options), travel-ready form factors, and cartridge lifespans designed to reduce repeated plastic waste.
• How does the GeoPress Ti let me both purify water and use it for cooking?

The GeoPress Ti is a titanium-bodied purifier that doubles as a cook pot, with large folding handles and a shape sized for pocket stoves and even hot coals. Its design lets you press to purify 24 oz of water and then heat in the same vessel, reducing gear and pack volume.
• What contaminants do Grayl purification cartridges remove?

Grayl’s filters are engineered to remove up to ~99.99% of waterborne viruses, bacteria, and protozoa while also reducing chemical contaminants such as PFAS, VOCs, chlorine, iodine, pesticides, heavy metals (including lead and arsenic), and microplastics. Cartridge effectiveness varies by model, so capacity and target contaminants are listed per product.
• How do the UltraPress, Ultralight Purifier, and GeoPress Ti compare?

The UltraPress is a compact travel purifier (about 16.9 oz per press and roughly 150 L per cartridge/≈300 presses) built for portability, while the Ultralight Purifier prioritizes minimal weight and a higher-capacity cartridge (around 250 L) for long treks. The GeoPress Ti focuses on multi-function use—acting as a durable titanium cooking vessel and purifier—making it a better option if you want a single piece that serves both purposes.
