Campagnolo

Frequently Asked Questions

• Which Campagnolo groupset is best for road racing and why?

Super Record EPS is Campagnolo’s top-tier 12-speed electronic groupset built for road racing: it’s wireless, disc‑brake only, and tuned for the fastest, most precise shifts with Ultra‑Shift multi-gear capability. Its construction (carbon and titanium components, lightweight crank around 603 g) prioritizes low weight and crisp tactile feedback favored by pro riders.
• What makes the Campagnolo Ekar groupset different from the road groupsets?

Ekar is a 13‑speed, cable‑operated groupset purpose‑built for gravel, offering a very wide gear range and a durable carbon chainset aimed at rough, variable terrain. It’s one of Campagnolo’s lightest gravel platforms (about 2.385 kg as a complete groupset), with simpler mechanical serviceability and gravel‑optimized cage geometry for chain security and longevity.
• How does Super Record compare to Record?

Both are 12‑speed, road‑focused groupsets with refined shifting, but Super Record is the flagship with wireless EPS, lighter carbon/titanium hardware, and the highest level of refinement and weight savings (crank roughly 603 g vs Record’s ~651 g). Record offers many of the same electronic features with slightly heavier crank options and composite derailleurs, delivering near‑top performance at a marginally lower materials/spec level.
• What compatibility checks should I make before fitting a Campagnolo groupset?

Match the groupset’s speed and brake type to your bike: Super Record and Record are 12‑speed disc systems, Ekar is 13‑speed mechanical disc, and Centaur is 11‑speed rim‑brake oriented; ensure your wheels/freehub and brake mounts are compatible. Also verify bottom bracket/Ultra‑Torque axle fit and that cassette tooth range (for example Centaur up to 32T, Ekar wide‑range) suits your derailleur and chainstay clearance.
• Which Campagnolo groupset should I choose based on riding style and experience?

Choose Super Record EPS if you prioritize lowest weight, wireless electronic shifting, and race‑level performance; pick Record if you want electronic precision with slightly less exotic materials. Opt for Ekar for dedicated gravel riding where wide gearing, durability, and simple mechanical service matter, and Centaur if you need a practical 11‑speed, rim‑brake option for entry‑level or mixed‑use riding.
