The Black Diamond Distance 15L Backpack was built for exactly that kind of day, threading the needle between a trail running vest and a proper alpine daypack so you never have to choose between moving fast and carrying enough. At 330 grams, it disappears on your back until you need it and stays completely out of the way when you don't.
Black Diamond built the Distance 15L around their SETT construction, using stitchless edge taping technology that improves shoulder strap comfort and durability without the bulk or pressure points of traditional stitched seams. Custom UHMWPE ripstop body fabric keeps the pack ultralight and resilient, while the custom-engineered diamond mesh sits next to skin on the harness with breathability that holds up through high-output efforts. Soft flask pockets on the front harness keep hydration within reach, Z-pole sleeves deploy on the go without stopping to dig through the pack, and dual piolet carry options handle the technical objectives that demand more than just poles. Two side stash pockets and an internal zip pocket with key leash cover the organizational details that matter on a long day in the mountains.
