Well designed minimalist backpack

I was after a well-designed, well-made backpack that was versatile to be used for everything from flying on a city break (as a cabin bag) to multi-day hiking and skiing. One suggestion for Rab is to provide extra options for the waist belt. Many will like the current simplicity but being able to add an optional extra padded waist belt with pockets like on the Khroma backpack would be a great feature.

Awesome pack

Great rucksack, lightweight and really tough, especially for guiding work. I really like the wide opening for packing, feels much bigger and easier to pack than previous rucksacks from other manufacturers. Only downside is the waist buckle, which can be a challenge to use in winter, but easy to replace with a regular plastic one

Excellent rucksack, easy to pack,

Excellent rucksack, easy to pack, carry and adjust and very tough. Useful detachable rope strap, minimal compression straps and ice tool mounts, although the latter work less well when the sack is not particularly full. I'm not sure I'll stick with the belt buckle system, mainly because it is different from my expedition pack. Look forward to using it for a long long time.

So far, brilliant bag. Robust

So far, brilliant bag. Robust and water tight and up to be thrown about while out winter climbing regardless of the conditions.

This is a very neat

This is a very neat and compact bag. I really like the simplicity of the roll down top, the two internal and external zip pockets still allow you to be organised. The fabric of the bag is fab, seems really water resistant and robust, lots of Scottish winter days out with it already and no sign of wear yet. The overall shape is excellent, loads of room for a helmet in the top and then some. But compact enough that it feels part of you when climbing or mountaineering. All the buckles (except the belt one, see below), are very secure, easy to use with gloves on and still function when snowed or iced up. The shoulder straps are very comfortable without being bulky, the non padded hip belt is surprisingly comfortable (only tried while out in winter with lots of clothes on). Did persevere with the belt buckle for 3 weeks. It’s a proper pain to do up and tighten with big gloves on or when covered in snow and ice, it releases really well though. Have replaced it with a normal fastex one which works well. The little elastic retaining loops on all the compression straps really help stop them flapping but they do ride up under the buckle so you can’t adjust it easily one handed. Used a bit of para cord to tie the elastic retaining loop to the end of the strap which then stops it riding up. Would be fab if the elastic was stitched like this at production. Overall really impressed and thoroughly enjoying using it while at work and on days out playing too.

Great bag, tested on a

Great bag, tested on a 3 week trip mountaineering in Ecuador, Light weight, fits loads in but also when there is less in the pack it Roles down nicely and feels like a mutch smaller pack, fits well and doesn't move round mutch when running. On days where you are sleeping on the mountain you can really fill it up and have loads strapped to the outside

Really like it and it

Really like it and it is pretty waterproof which is great. Found the hip belt buckle hard to use. The release cord gets caught. Think the base of the back panel where it meets bottom of the pack may be a vulnerable wear point. Has been on my other Lowe Alpine pack. Not sure about the colour. It’s a bit light for outdoor use. Great internally though to see kit and the shape works really well to pack.

The Latin 38L is quite

The Latin 38L is quite excellent. It seems very well balanced and given the minimalist appearance to its design very comfortable. I found it very easy to access the contents and the bag feels pretty bullet proof. First roll top closure bag I’ve had, very impressed.
