Why We Like The Speedcross 6 Trail Running Shoe
With a little less weight and little more grip, Salomon's Speedcross 6 Trail Running Shoe has us off-roading with even more velocity and control than before. The ultralight tight-knit upper lets air in and keeps debris out, while the fine-tuned sole releases mud quicker to keep our footing solid on wet, technical singletrack.

Hiking shoes
Love these shoes, had the same style for my last pair. For great and first day hiking no pain.

Best trail runners for slippery terrain
I reside on Catalina Island and hike and/or trail run 2-3 times per week. Terrain is steep, very hard on feet, and very “sloppy”, rock slides. Grip is amazing. During winter months terrain is very muddy and slippery. Great grip in mud and sheds the mud very well. Also held up very well in Zion and Bryce through snowy, icy, and muddy trails. These are my 4th pair. Changing out every year. No break in period needed for me. Super light. Only complaint are how fast the lugs grind down even on non-paved trails. Would love reinforced lugs.

Love this shoe!
I bought my first pair for hiking and I loved how amazing my feet felt in them after hiking many miles! I decided on another pair for daily wear as well.

Great trail shoe
This is my 5th pair. Great features: stiff and protective sole, some kind of magic in the insole; excellent last, and the arch hits in the right spot; speed laces plus little place to tuck them; not too heavy; toe box ok for wider feet; true to size. I wear these for walking/hiking—at least 30 miles a week, mostly but not entirely on trails (dirt, scrub, grass). The sole has a reasonable lifespan; upper is surprisingly tough and on every pair has outlasted the sole. I don’t care for the puce color of the women’s—but got it dirty enough right away that I don’t mind.

Way too wide, huge diversion from what Speedcross
I've been using Salomon Speedcross since its 2nd version - more than a decade. We are on the 6th now. What a downgrade on Salomon's part! Not just in the shoe fabric. The fit is HORRIBLE; wide, wide, wide! Too wide! The 6th edition, supposedly made for normal feet, is way too wide - my feet float in these shoes uncomfortably, which is a dangerous fit for running. I tightened the laces to adjust the fit - the fabric crinkles on top of the shoe (see pic), I get blisters. I compared these with Speedcross 3, which I still have. Speedcross 3 fit so well. Speedcross 6 - wide, not suitable for normal feet. What a terrible downgrade on Salomon's part. I used to love these shoes. (It makes me wonder how wide are their wide shoes nowadays). I went through many of these Speedcross shoes (easily 4 pairs/year) - it didn't bother me they wore off fast; I care about my feet (proper fit and comfort). After using Salomon's Speedcross for more than a decade now, I started checking other brands/makers - these are no longer for my feet. Too wide.

New terrain ~ concrete jungle
I bought Speedcross 5 and now 6 at 9 month intervals, but not for trail running nor for use in the great outdoors. I love them because my feet feel amazing and resilient in them while working for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week on concrete flooring. I log over 12,000 steps a day at work and these shoes provide my feet with excellent traction and comfort all day, every day. Between lifting merchandise, pivoting quickly, or pushing and pulling freight carts that can weigh upwards of 800 pounds - it’s my Speedcross 6 shoes I rely on to energize my feet and legs all day. Wouldn’t want to work without them. The fact that the colors are bright and crisp ~ well, that’s just a happy bonus!

Why is Salomon reducing the heel wedge/stability?
I wear nothing but Salomon’s but recently I’ve noticed the heel wedge has been cut narrower, which reduces stability. Some styles still have it, but all styles used to. They need to bring it back and add single colors for women. Less gaudy, more heel!

Love these. I had to size a 1/2 size down from my normal (usually a size 7 and got a 6.5) and they fit great! Wasn’t a fan how easily they got dirty and held the dirt like instantly when my dog stepped on my foot…but otherwise love these!!!
