Why We Like The Outdoor Research Freewheel Ride Short
Riding off-road is no joke—the falls are rocky, brush reaches into the trails—and Outdoor Research went all in on durability in these shorts. The Freewheel Ride Short is an essential piece of apparel for singletrack, gravel, and park riding due to its durable and stretchy nylon composition. In addition to the rugged fibers, these shorts feature a resin-based 3D-printed overlay, DuraPrint, to boost durability in high-contact zones without increasing weight or limiting flexibility. And speaking of flex, Outdoor Research mastered on-bike mobility in this style: stretch fabric, a gusseted crotch, and pedal-friendly leg articulation keep us moving.

All time favorite MTB shorts!
Time for a ten ride review! These shorts have all the right features I'm looking for in a bike short. Great material - stretchy yet durable. Great fit - right length, true to size waist with great adjustability (no belt needed) and they fit perfect in the crotch (doesn't get caught on seat). I wear these over a PI liner short and they've quickly become my all time favorites! I've ridden for for over 30 years and used many brands of shorts - these are winners! I've already bought a second pair. For reference I'm 64, 5'9" and 168 pounds. I wear 34" in everything Ferrosi and Method. These are 34".

Excellent no nonsense riding shorts
Loose enough for easy movement but tight enough not to bunch or snag. The phone pocket is just the right size where is ready to drop the phone in but not so large it flops around while riding. It's also located where you don't really feel it when pedaling. The new slide button closure is great, as long as you remember it's not a normal snap and try pulling it open. Overall really happy with them.

My new favorite pair of shorts
The fit is spot on with a tailored fit and stretch in all the right places. I have been out on 10+ rides in the three weeks that I have had these shorts and I absolutely love them. The length is just right for them to sit nicely while pedaling. With the tighter fit I have not had any issues while transitioning in and out of the saddle. I love the T-snap and you don't notice it even on long rides. I love these as a riding short and an everyday wear short. I will definitely be ordering another pair. Fit was true to size.

Good short but too long
Great shorts to ride in so far. Comfortable and a chamois short fits underneath just fine. Great pockets and I like the button snap and draw strings. Good riding fit for enduro bros and Dads alike. My only gripe is the length. I'm almost 6'3" and they are long on me. This is a 32 waist as well. I like the vent on the backside.

Great new MTB short. Waist design and fit are perfect.
I am an OR employee and have used samples of this short for about half a year. They are super comfortable. The waist design really stands out compared to other MTB shorts I own. It is super secure with the slider snap at the fly and low profile side cinches. These are the only shorts I have that I rarely have to adjust during a ride Also, length is long enough to eliminate knee pad gap, but not too long for comfortable pedaling. Very nice.

Good riding shorts
Great MTB shorts. They move very well and are extremely comfortable. I have to complaints though. 1. Zippered pockets are to narrow. Hand cant fit inside so you're forced to use your fingers to find stuff and it's annoying if you have gloves on. 2. Could use back pocket for wallet etc. besides those miner things they're my new favorite shorts. Hope to see pants in the future.
