Why We Like The New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro V8
The Fresh Foam X Hierro V8 Trail Running Shoe is what we get when New Balance takes its best running technologies to the trail. Their proprietary Fresh Foam X midsoles absorb shock when we run over rocks and roots while providing plenty of energy return, and the Vibram Megagrip rubber gives us gobs of grip on all kinds of terrain, wet or dry. Compared to the V7, the updated Hierro V8 features improved cushioning, a more stable fit, and more protection.

Problem with just one of the shoes
Problem with right shoe insole. The left shoe is performing great. Oddly the right shoe is uncomfortable and causes the anklet sock to not lay flat on my foot.

These Are Good Shoes
Excellent shoes. The new v8 has some significant improvements on previous versions. They've already covered many miles over the Nothern Pennines.

Downgraded Sole
Big disappointment moving from Vibram MegaGrip to Vibram EcoStep. The durability of the sole takes a huge hit. Not looking to buy multiple shoes. I recommend saving the money and getting the v8 if still available.

Narrow Toebox.
Had to return. Toe box is very narrow, even when purchasing in 4E. Returns process is easy though.

Get a version 7 before they are gone
Big change from version 7, the sense of stability is very poor for walking. It feels like driving on underinflated tires.

Unimpressed with the Hierro V8
Not impressed compared to past Hierro styles. This shoe feels flimsy and insecure on my foot.
