Love this tent

I have really loved this tent so far on my Sky Island Traverse long route. I’m going up and down various mountain ranges and spending time in hot, hot desert and also chilly 7,000ft+ peaks. This tent is lightweight, incredibly easy to set up and break down. It’s quick to pack up and it is free standing, which is important in the the terrains I’m dealing with. It also had epic headspace and does not feel like a claustrophobia nightmare we’ve all dealt with at some point in our adventurous lives. This tent has held up to some insane winds and I’m stoked to see how it handles the summer monsoons!

Roomy as a solo tent, too tight for two people.

This is not a problem unique to Nemo, where 1 person UL tents are coffins, 2 person tents are great for one person, and the 3 person are good for two people, but have a large footprint. I also get that this is the lightest tent in the lineup, but the inside dimensions of the Dragonfly aren't really any different! So, if you are looking for a comfortable one-person tent and don't mind an extra few ounces in your pack in exchange for sleeping well, this tent is hard to beat. It's one of the lightest and best-designed semi-freestanding tents I've ever seen and used. It's awesome. I took it on an overnight with some experienced and fit hikers, and not only did we all get to camp at the same time, but I was set up and relaxing while they were still fiddling with their trekking pole tarps. So I highly recommend this tent to anyone who is not trying to go into what I call "stupid light" territory. However, my fleet now consists of the Hornet 1 (for keeping up with thru hikers and pitching with a smaller footprint) and a Dragonfly 3 for slackpacking with my spouse. My next hope is that Nemo comes out with a true 2-person UL tent that can fit two 25x78" pads without a ton of extra space, something like the Dagger, but comparable in weight to the Hornet 3. Maybe it's in the works!

Lightweight Tent that Packs Small

I’ve used this tent for a few trips since picking it up late last summer. I have the older version of the 1p Hornet but I really wanted to try the 2p out so I’d have a little more room. Unless you’re super concerned about a few ounces, the 2p is the way to go even for solo trips. You could squeeze another adult in there with you but using it solo provides just enough extra room to be really comfy. The new rectangular shaped stuff sack and extra joints in the supports really help in packing this thing up as well. I used to lash the poles from my original 1p to the outside of my pack but the new version packs up so small I can fit it inside my pack. I really like having everything in my pack, especially hunting, so that was a really nice surprise when I got the new version. It’s a great tent and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Amazing Tent

I have the 3p tent and it's amazing. Nemo thought about it all when it came to this tent! It rained for 3 days and this tent stayed dry. Nemo knocked it out of the park with this tent! Also, super light

Roomy 1 person!

After researching ultralight tension tents I settled on this tent and am super happy with my decision. My last Hornet 1 person I have had for 7 years and it still works great. The new OSMO fabric is awesome and super light. The tent poles are maybe 12" long, perfect for bike packing or tucking in the side pocket of your backpack. The inside would be snug for 2 people but totally doable as you each have your own door and vestibules. Awesome small details that have been upgrades since my previous tent. Excited to see where I sleep the next 7 years with this one!

Better

Purchased two person tent. Poles color coded. Recommend better stakes. Took on Colorado trail in summer; also Lone Star in Texas: also various state and national parks. Fast. Recommend backyard practice, as fly more fiddly than tent. Mine ok in iffy weather conditions. Light too. Solo packer; place tent in pack; stakes n poles side pockets. Also carry a light chair. Thin floor; use footprint.

Nemo Hornet 2P

I had a Nemo Hornet 2P purchased 4 years ago. On a 100 mile backpack, water unexpectedly came up through the floor. I sent in a picture, and my tent was replaced! Outstanding customer experience.

Several seasons of use but applied Nikwax

I've had my tent for 4 seasons without a problem. Things I love: lightweight, easy setup, dual vestibules, pack sack without poles, durable. I got back from a wind river wy trip and it rained a little each day. One day a thundershower came in quickly and we retreated to our tents while it was windy and rainy for an hour. I expected the rain so I treated my rainfly and seams with Nikwax before and didn't have any leaks. I had some pooling of water from my homemade footprint and the water seaped through a bit. But after that day I did a better job of making sure the footprint didn't extend out from the sides of the tent and it didn't leak. I've read that some people had problems with the water leaking in from the head side but even with extreme wind conditions (the tent was blown almost flat at times) the rain did not come in from the front. I was worried that the poles would fail in the wind but I didn't have any problems. (my brother has a Big Anges and his pole broke and ripped a hole in the rainfly). I'm going to treat the bottom of the tent but I totally trust it in rainy and windy conditions

YES!

7/10/23 Bought one several yrs ago. Poles not color coded in mine. Needed a really light tent. This brand offered what I needed: light, easy to assemble, keeps out rain. Am 5'6" 118 lb female. Carry tent and rain fly in one bag, the poles and stakes in their bags. It all disappeared into my bag. place all next to back.Poles are "shock-corded" so it's really fast. I took used it recently. I'd probably get a 2 - person next time. But then, it may be some heavier. After 5 yrs, this is still my go-to. Besides, a tent of this quality is really pricey. Handle it with respec and care. Highly suggest a lot of practice at home first. Small dog-approved. (No more than 12 L canine). Recommend foot print to help keep chill off. If you can guy it out, provides much more space. if not, ok too. Highly. recommend.

1 very crucial design flaw

Man, did i want to like this tent, but it has one very crucial design flaw that unfortunately made me return it after only one nights sleep. The rain fly! I understand that this is an ultralight tent and that calls for trying to find ways to cut out weight. But designing the rain fly so that it doesnt give complete coverage over the tent itself seems like a really terrible decision. The rainfly has a section that is notched out, which i assume was for weight savings, but that notch is right over your head. It doesnt actually cover the bug mesh so this creates an uncovered section right over your head. And secondly, this notch also allows for the rainfly to then become saggy and therefor rest right on the bug mesh so any condensation that builds up just drips right down onto the mesh and then drips right onto your face. Pretty surprised that this very obvious design flaw was not addressed before this tent went to market. And the rainfly zippers do not zip down without catching the material every 1-2 inches. I love Nemo products, but designers, take another look at this one. Some really big mishaps going on here
