I like the Timp4 better

To me thw only that needed to change in the Timp4 was the tongue. The Timp5 has a good tongue in it but it is too narrow. I am a female and I buy men's shoes because of the width and these are narrow.

Avoid this shoe at all costs

Had high hopes for this shoe, but was immediately disappointed. I didn't even get 2 miles in the stump 5 before the laminate around the toe cap started to come lose. Do not buy these.

Extremely Comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Straight out of the box, these are very appealing to the eye. They were very easy to slide on and are extremely comfortable. It took me a little getting used to as they felt like I was floating. All in all these are the most comfortable sneakers that I have ever worn!

Great Outdoor/Hiking Shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes are great! First day of wearing them I didn’t even need to break them in, they were comfortable right out of the gate and wore them all day. Walked around in them on all sorts of different terrain, had great traction on the mud/dirt. If you’re looking for an outdoor running shoe or hiking shoe, these are great. I would definitely recommend these. I give these a 9.4 out of 10 on the all around scale.

Falling apart at 25 miles

As you can see from the included image, the shoe has started deteriorating after a mere 25 miles of use. I knew about Altra's reported durability issues, but I thought they may have fixed it with this latest release. I won't be purchasing an Altra shoe again, as they now have many competitors in the zero drop / wide toe box category who have superior performance and durability.

Nice stack height but caused multiple foot issues

I have used Lone Peak 4, 5 and two pairs of 6's and never had a problem with them. I purchased TIMPS for the extra stack height which was great. That is where my enjoyment for TIMPS stops, I have never have foot issues with Lone Peaks but with these shoes I am going to lose at least 1 toe nail and due to how the tongue gussets attach I now have blisters on the top of both feet which is a first for me. I would never recommend these shoes to anyone. After 40 miles in these shoes I am going to return to my worn out Lone Peaks while I figure out what to do next.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We couldn't get this wonderful product. My husband is a size 16 shoe and the sizes only to up to 14. I'm sorry I selected it before going to the website the price is awesome too!

Very good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are very comfortable! The durability while running with these is great! The fit is the only thing that was off on me. They were a tad bit too tight in the toe.

Durability issues... again

Long time Altra customer here. I was about to throw in the towel with Altra shoes after the last several pair of Olympus 5s I had purchased basically fell apart prematurely and soles started peeling off with less than 100 miles on them. I decided to give it one more go with the Timp 5 and was cautiously optimistic based on initial reviews and the website description that they were "ready to get rowdy" and "ready for a full send" on the "toughest of trails." I was generally pleased with them for the first month or so but then the uppers started fraying. And now, in less than 2 months since my purchase, and with about 200 miles on them, the cushioned heels are basically collapsed flat as a pancake. Sent my concerns to customer service and was informed it was 'normal wear and tear'. So, anyway...sure they can tolerate a "full send" on some tough trails for maybe 1-2 months and then they are pretty much done. I expect better durability and quality for the price.
